The Chicago City Council has approved the rezoning for a mixed-use building at 3714 N Cicero Avenue in Old Irving Park. Located just north of the intersection with W Waveland Avenue, the new structure replaces a one-story commercial building built in 1956 that most recently housed a motorcycle shop. Developer G7 Investments LLC selected local architecture firm Studio Sym Design for the small neighborhood project.

Updated renderings and plans have been revealed for a mixed-use development at 640 W Washington Boulevard in West Loop Gate. Located just east of the Kennedy Expressway on the corner with N Des Plaines Street, the tower will replace a surface parking lot as downtown density pushes west. Miami-based developer Crescent Heights, the company behind other recent Chicago skyscrapers including Nema in the South Loop, has partnered with local design firm Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture on the slim skyscraper.

Updated details has been released for a mixed-use development at 170 N Green Street in the West Loop. Located just north of W Randolph Street, the multi-structure project will replace the old Bridgford Foods plant which was vacated in 2020 and is currently being demolished. The joint venture developers of St. Louis-based Clayco’s real estate division CRG and West Loop native Shapack Partners, have tapped the Chicago-based architecture firm Lamar Johnson Collaborative on the new design.

Site prep is now in full swing for the second phase of a three-part development known as The Shops at Big Deahl, located adjacent to Clybourn Corridor. Planned by Structured Development, the completed first phase is a four-story rock climbing gym called Movement Lincoln Park, which wrapped up construction last year. The second stage of the vision, meanwhile, broke ground this past December, and will consist of two mid-rise buildings. Located at 1450 N Dayton Street, this pair of edifices will be 10 and four stories, measuring 117 and 64 feet respectively.
