Construction Nearly Complete for Five-Story Mixed-Use Addition at Chinatown’s 2353 S Wentworth Avenue

Photos show the near-complete construction of a five-story addition to an existing two-story building, located at 2353 S Wentworth Avenue in Chinatown. The project owner and developer, ME Wentworth LLC led by Che Mei Wong, has renovated the original two-story retail structure, while adding 149 rooms in a new four-floor hotel portion. An additional seventh-floor residential component appears to be in the works, which will include a single 3,000-square-foot penthouse unit.

Construction Progresses at Southbridge Phase One in Near South Side

Construction has ascended rapidly for two six-story structures forming the first stage of a major mixed-use development known as Southbridge, located near the southeast corner of Near South Side.

Cladding on The Rosie Nears Completion in Little Italy

Exterior work is nearly complete for The Rosie, a seven-story mixed-use building located at 1461 S Blue Island Avenue, near the southeast corner of Chicago’s Little Italy. Planned by CEDARst and Origin Investments, the project will host 202 apartments as well as 7,600 square feet of retail space. The project lies within in a federal opportunity zone, whereby the developers agree to build in an economically distressed vicinity in exchange for tax incentives. Seven of the on-site units will also be affordable, a figure that was approved prior to an updated housing requirement, whereby at least 20 percent of units must be affordable for new projects in the area.

Zoning Approved for Mixed-Use Development at 5214 N Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Square

The proposed zoning has been approved for a five-story mixed-use development at 5214 N Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Square. Located at the intersection of N Lincoln Avenue and W Farragut Avenue, the corner lot is currently home to an existing one-story commercial building that is vacant and will be demolished. Grand Properties Acquisitions is the developer behind the project.

Renderings Revealed for 27-Story Tower at 160 N Elizabeth Street in West Loop

Renderings have been revealed for a proposed 27-story mixed-use development at 160 N Elizabeth Street in West Loop. Located at the intersection of W Randolph Street and N Elizabeth Street, the corner site is currently home to a cluster of low-rise masonry buildings. Moceri + Roszak are the developers behind the project.

Windows and Cladding Progress Quickly at 300 W Division Street in Near North Side

Recent photos show rapid progress on window installation and masonry cladding for a seven-story mixed-use building located at 300 W Division Street in Near North Side. The developer The Domain Group has planned retail space on the ground floor, with 89 total apartments above. Of the units, 65 will be single bedrooms, while the remaining 24 will be studio apartments. A parking garage will also be integrated into the rear end of the structure, though the exact number of spaces is not currently known.

Exterior Cladding Nears Completion at 15-Story Bentham Chicago in River North

Exterior cladding has reached the 13th floor of the now topped-out Bentham Chicago, a mixed-use building rising 15 stories in River North. Both designed and developed by Sedgwick Development, the 172-foot-tall tower will house retail at its base, with 31 condominiums on the floors above.

Permits Issued for 4414 N Kedzie Avenue in Albany Park

Construction permits have been issued for a four-story mixed-use building at 4414 N Kedzie Avenue, located in Albany Park. The owner, Josue Sabillon, has planned first-floor commercial spaces with four private garages intended to accommodate seven vehicles. On the above floors will be a total of six residential buildings with private terrace spaces. Although the filing description did indicate these terraces would constitute rooftop decks, it is unknown if each will reside on the actual rooftop or be integrated alongside the units themselves on each floor.

Zoning Approved for Mixed-Use Development at 1623 N Halsted Street in Lincoln Park

The proposed zoning has been approved for a mixed-use, seven-story development at 1623 N Halsted Street on the border of Lincoln Park and Old Town. Located along N Halsted Street, the interior site is between W Concord Place and W Willow Street. The lot is directly north of the CTA Brown Line tracks and is a transit-served location. The immediate area consists of low-rise residential and mixed-use buildings, with a mix of office and restaurants at grade and residential units above. The new development will replace four existing buildings. JDL Development and Logan Ventures are in charge of the development.
