Continuing our Sister Cities series, we return to Milwaukee, where a new proposal has been unveiled for the world’s tallest mass-timber tower. Located at 1001 N Water Street on the western edge of downtown, the project will replace a multi-story parking garage with a three-tower high-rise development. Efforts are being led by local developer The Neutral Project.
A steel framework is forming inside the shell of the Second Church of Christ, Scientist in Lincoln Park. That’s where Ogden Partners is developing a six-story building containing 22 three-bedroom units while saving the west, south, and east façades of the 120-year-old church. The church, at 2700 North Pine Grove Avenue, has been holding its services and meetings on Zoom, but will occupy 4,700 square feet of ground-floor space in the new building upon its completion.
Initial financing has been approved for the second-phase of the LeClaire Courts redevelopment at 4458 S Cicero Avenue in Garfield Ridge. The approval came from the Community Development Commission who granted the project $5.5 million in Tax Increment Financing (TIF). The multi-phase proposal is being led by developers The Habitat Company and Cabrera Capital Partners, with SCB working on its design.
The Chicago City Council has approved the mixed-use redevelopment of the Hollander Building at 2422 N Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square. Located on the intersection with W Fullerton Avenue, the development will replace a parking lot and adjacent one-story structure. Efforts for the project are being led by GW Properties with architecture firm NORR working on its design.
The Chicago City Council has approved the mixed-use development at 2328 S Michigan Avenue in Motor Row. Set to rise near E 23rd Street, the project includes a mid-rise and will bring much needed density to an area which has struggled to grow in recent years. The proposal is being led by local developer Fern Hill who is also working on Old Town Canvas.
