Facade Underway for Hugo Development in River North

Brickwork and metal paneling can now be seen undergoing installation along the two-building development known as Hugo in River North. Developer LG Group has planned for a total of 227 for-rent apartments across nearly 150,000 square feet of total floor area. Both nine stories, the larger edifice at 751 N Hudson Avenue will yield 134 new units while 411 W Chicago Avenue will yield 93 residences. The mixed-use project will also provide approximately 19,000 square feet of ground-level retail space. The two structures are almost adjacent save for an existing two-story building that lies between them.

920 N Wells Nears Completion in Near North Side

Glass and metal installation is now wrapping up for the 21-story 920 N Wells Street in Near North Side. Developed by JDL as part of the massive North Union megadevelopment, this primarily residential mixed-use building is the first step in what will be a $1.3 billion master plan covering several blocks of land previously owned by the Moody Bible Institute.

Plan Commission Approves Galleria 89 In South Chicago

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the mixed-use development dubbed Galleria 89 at 8840 S Commercial Avenue in South Chicago. Located on the northwest corner with E 89th Street, the project is one of the winners of the 2021 Invest South/West requests for proposals and will preserve one of the existing structures on site. Developer 548 Capital is leading the team with Rivetna Architecture and Farr Associates both working on its design.

1101 W Van Buren Reaches Second Floor in West Loop

Structural work has reached the second level for a new 21-story mixed-use building known as “Coppia,” located at 1101 W Van Buren Street. Developed by Pizzuti Development, this latest West Loop project will stand between two existing apartment buildings, replacing a previously vacant site. The new addition to the area will yield 298 apartment units and contain ground-floor retail.

City Council Approves Mixed-Use Tower At 1234 W Randolph Street In Fulton Market

The Chicago City Council has approved the mixed-use development at 1234 W Randolph Street in Fulton Market. Located on the intersection with N Elizabeth Street the building replaces a handful of low-slung commercial structures after having originally been proposed as a hotel a few years back. Now after receiving its approval from the Plan Commission and comments from the Committee on Design, developers Azur Holdings, and Golub & Company have cleared some of the last hurdles towards construction for the SCB-designed project.

Revised Plans Revealed For 1300 W Lake Street In West Loop

Updated details have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 1300 W Lake Street in the West Loop. Located on the northwest corner with W Lake Street and replacing an existing two-story commercial building, plans for the nearly block-long structure were revealed in March with the Committee on Design reviewing its plans soon thereafter. Now developer Loukas Development has applied for rezoning for the upcoming bKL Architecture-designed project.

Construction Enters Final Stretch for 1606 S Ashland Avenue in Pilsen

Final exterior construction can be seen at the site of the mixed-use 1606 S Ashland Avenue in Pilsen, where the developer 1600 Pilsen LLC has built 24 new rental units and 4,675 square feet of retail. The four-story, roughly 50,000-square-foot structure will replace a former masonry low-rise building, and is located across the street from the high-profile residential conversion of 1600 S Laflin Street, which was recently approved by city council.

Details Revealed For Mixed-Use Development At 535 E 47th Street In Bronzeville

Details have been revealed for a new mixed-use development at 535 E 47th Street in Bronzeville. Located on the southwest corner with S St Lawrence Avenue just east of the CTA Green Line at 47th station, the proposal will replace an empty lot down the street from the upcoming five-story project from Two Fish Crab Shack at 641 E 47th Street. Developer Bronzeville Corridor LLC is working with local firm SGW Architecture & Design.

Updated Plans Presented For 357 N Green In West Loop

Updated details have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 357 N Green Street in the West Loop. Sandwiched between Green Street to the west and N Halsted Street to the east, the project tackles a unique site which is traversed by the Kennedy Expressway on the northeast corner. Recently Canadian-based developer Onni Group presented slightly revised plans at a community meeting for the SCB-designed tower with Confluence working on its landscape design.

Preliminary Masterplan Revealed For Mars Wrigley Factory In Galewood

A preliminary plan has been revealed for the future of the Mars Wrigley factory at 2019 N Oak Park Avenue in Galewood. Located on the intersection with W Armitage Avenue within the greater residential neighborhood, the factory dates back to 1929 and has seen multiple expansions over the years completing two others within the greater metro area. Now Mars is working with local residents to decide the fate of the massive multi-acre site.
