City Council Approves Rezoning For 43Green Phase II In Bronzeville

The Chicago City Council has approved the rezoning for the mixed-use development at 301 E 43rd Street in Bronzeville. Located on the southeast corner with S Prairie Avenue, the proposal replaces an existing commercial building with the second phase of the 43Green project for which Chicago YIMBY was able to speak with the architects last month. Developers P3 Markets and The Habitat Company are working with local designers Moody Nolan and Landon Bone Baker on the new affordable structure.

The Community Development Commission has initially approved funding for the mixed-use development at 4715 N Western Avenue in Lincoln Square. Located on the intersection with W Leland Avenue, just south of W Lawrence Avenue, the lots currently serve as a city-owned surface parking lot whose sale is also included in the package. Developer The Community Builders, who operate other residential properties in the city, has partnered up with local architecture firm DesignBridge on the design of the new building across the street from the soon-to-be renovated DANK Haus.

Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for “Cassidy on Canal” Residential Tower in Fulton River District

Yesterday, YIMBY attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the newly dubbed “Cassidy on Canal,” a 33-story residential tower at 344 N Canal Street in Fulton River District. The Habitat Company and Diversified Real Estate Capital are behind the project, which will replace the former Cassidy Tire Building that was demolished this year. The development will yield a total of 343 units along with ground-level retail and 123 parking spaces.
