Demolition is almost complete on the former Cougle Commission Co. building at 345 North Aberdeen Street in Fulton Market. A permit to tear down the single-story structure was permitted on March 10; demo fencing had surrounded the site on a trip through the neighborhood back in late February, so the permit came as no surprise. Another visit Tuesday, March 18 turned up mostly rubble and scrap material.
Plans are progressing for the mixed-use proposal at 350 N Morgan Street in Fulton Market. Earlier this year we covered when the project received a slight redesign from its initial reveal around a year ago. The tower will rise on the corner with W Carroll Avenue and adjacent to Google’s current office, with Sterling Bay acting as the developer.
The Chicago City Council has approved the multi-phased mixed-use proposal at 1325 W Fulton Street within Fulton Market District. Set to replace a block-long site bound by N Ada Street to the west and N Elizabeth Street to the east, the project was revealed a few months ago and received approval from the Plan Commission last month.
A pair of buildings at Racine and Fulton in the Fulton Market District are in various states of destruction, as Heneghan Wrecking works to clear a site for redevelopment. A visit during the last week of January showed little remaining of the former Revel space along Fulton, and a visit Monday showed the demo crew making their way toward the front of the Christensen & Olsen Foundry Company building at 218 North Racine Avenue.
The new construction permit was issued on January 31 for the tower crane that will build 370 North Morgan in the Fulton Market District. While that doesn’t necessarily mean construction will be get started in the immediate future, it’s a good sign that activity could begin soon. Skender will be the general contractor; as the concrete contractor, McHugh Concrete will oversee tower crane operation.
