Foundation work is ready to give way to vertical construction for the mixed-use development at 225 N Elizabeth Street in Fulton Market District, where many of this year’s entries are. Located on the southeast corner with W Fulton Street, foundation work is currently well underway for the structure after it completed the removal of the previous empty surface lot on the site. Developers Sterling Bay and Colorado-based Ascentris have been leading the charge on the Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture-designed-structure.

Ranking #14 in YIMBY’s year-end construction countdown is 160 N Elizabeth Street, a 27-story mixed-use tower progressing in the final steps of its facade installation. Located in the west end of the Fulton Market District and developed by Moceri + Roszak, the 293-foot-tall building, now named “Fulbrix,” will feature 9,000 square feet of retail space and 375 rental units. In accordance with the ARO planning regulations, 20 percent of these units will be affordably priced and include a variety of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom residences, many of which will boast private balconies.

This 21-story mixed-use tower by Greystar marks the 18th tallest construction project in the city, rising 224 feet in height. Now standing its full 224-foot height, the high rise is set to house 224 rental apartments atop ground-level retail.

600-Foot Tower Proposed for 420 N May Street in Fulton Market

A new tallest is coming to both Fulton Market and the broader West Loop as Crescent Heights recently proposed a 52-story skyscraper located at 420 N May Street. The structure will stand 600 feet, surpassing the nearby 900 Randolph Street that is already dominating the emerging western skyline. The mixed-use tower will house a total of 587 apartment units atop 3,100 square feet of retail and 339 total parking spaces.

New Guinness Brewery in Fulton Market Heads Closer to 2023 Completion

Exterior renovation work continues to take shape for the new Guinness Taproom and Brewery in Fulton Market. Owned by Fred Latsko, the former Pennsylvania Railroad Terminal Building at 375 N Morgan Street is being developed by Guinness as part of a deal that was finalized last year. Once a popular street art canvas, the converted beer hub will now contain a 10-barrel brewery, a pub, and a restaurant serving local chef cuisine.
