Zoning and Development Advisory Committee Approves Uptown Development at 640 W Irving Park Road

On Tuesday the 46th ward zoning and development advisory committee voted in favor of the residential redevelopment of the former Immaculata High School at 640 W Irving Park Road in Uptown. Developers KGiles LLC and CA Ventures are working with local firm Perkins Eastman and Level Architecture on the design of the new mid-rise and have also set their sights on redeveloping the neighboring American Islamic College, which will now have to vacate its corner of Irving Park Road and Marine Drive.

Architectural Artifacts Inc Opening New Location at 1065 N Orleans Street in Near North Side

For 31 years Architectural Artifacts Inc was a Ravenswood staple for unique architectural remnants, relics, art, and furniture sourced from around the globe. In 2018, it appeared the shop’s journey was at an end, as owner Stuart Granne, offered a large portion of inventory up for auction. It seems that after a four-year hiatus the beloved establishment is back, with a new twist and a new home.

New Permit Issued for 3335 N Sheffield Avenue in Lake View

Permits were issued on Friday for a new residential build located at 3335 N Sheffield Avenue in the Lake View neighborhood. Permit owner is listed as 3335 Sheffield LLC. The building will be a four-story development and house seven units as well as a basement. Plans show that there will be a private front deck on the first story, and front balconies on the second through fourth stories. There will be an outdoor stair that will extend to a rooftop deck and enclosure. The structure will also feature an attached three-car garage and four uncovered parking stalls. A demolition permit was issued for the existing structure in September 2021 and the structure has since been removed.
