The iconic Morton Salt branding and logo has re-emerged at the former Morton Salt Factory in West Town. This refurbished roof is part of an adaptive re-use scheme by R2 Companies, Blue Star Properties, and Skydeck. These plans at 1357 N Elston Avenue involve the conversion of the facility into a new entertainment and office venue.
Metal cladding can now be seen enshrouding the remainder of 1525 N Elston Avenue, a six-story boutique office building in West Town. The uniquely-shaped edifice has been planned by Property Adventures Corp, and will include a ground-level lobby and five total suites on the upper five floors.
The Chicago Zoning Board of Appeals has approved exemptions for a new residential development at 605 N Ashland Avenue in West Town. Located on a rectangular lot bound by W Ohio Street to the south and a public alley to the north, the new building will replace an existing three-story masonry structure with a rear garage and small pool. Developer Lux Living 4U, LLC tapped local firm Hanna Architects on the modern design.
Permits were issued yesterday for a new four-story residential building located at 1358 W Ohio Street in the West Town neighborhood. The lot is currently unoccupied. The permit owner is listed as Variable Properties LLC and plans indicate that the scope of the project will include two total units, each equipped with outdoor space at the rear. There will be a rooftop deck with an enclosed staircase. Plans also show an attached two-car garage with its own rooftop deck. The construction will replace a vacant lot.
