Developed by 1437 North California LLC, each of the two-story buildings will include two units, a basement, a rooftop deck and enclosure, a rear wooden porch, and a detached three-car garage. All four residences will replace a currently vacant grass lot.

The Commission on Chicago Landmarks has approved the final landmark recommendation for the Morton Salt Warehouse Complex in West Town. Addressed at 1357 N Elston Avenue, the complex is located at the intersection of N Elston Avenue and W Blackhawk Street. The eastern edge of the site is along the northern branch of the Chicago River. Blue Star Properties and R2 Companies are the developers and owners behind the complex.

The listed owner is 3219 N Elston LLC, with the permit’s filing description indicating three total units. Plans also consist of a rooftop deck and stair enclosure, as well as a rear deck along the first, second, and third floors. Parking will allow for a three-car garage with a separate rooftop deck on top. The new development and garage will replace a former single-story masonry residence and garage.
