Demolition permits have been issued for the removal of a two-story multi-unit residential building located at 2651 W Cortez Street in West Town. The owner has been listed as 2651 W Cortez LLC. According to the permit, Dexco Corporation will be acting as the demolition contractor for this removal. Given the recency of permits issued, no future construction plans have yet been made public.
New funding has been secured for the Esperanza Community Services center at 520 N Marshfield Avenue in West Town. Located just west of the intersection with W Grand Avenue, the funds will go towards the repair and maintenance of their existing multi-building campus. The grant was just approved last month and is coming from the Community Development Program, part of the city’s pandemic recovery initiative which gave money to 80 other proposals.
The redeveloped Morton Salt warehouse complex has opened to the public along the Chicago River’s North Branch corridor. The new office and entertainment complex within the shell of the former factory in West Town is a project by a development partnership between R2 Companies, Blue Star Properties, and Skydeck.
The Chicago City Council has approved a rezoning for 2405 W Grand Avenue in West Town. The property is mostly vacant, home to a single billboard and is bound by W Grand Avenue to the north and N Western Avenue to the east. The billboard will be removed to make way for the development that has been planned by RDM Companies.
Sterling Bay‘s bioscience-oriented office building known as ALLY at 1229 W Concord Place is currently undergoing final facade installation, marking a major milestone for the project as it nears completion. The eight-story edifice is part of the developer’s larger multi-billion, 55-acre Lincoln Yards, which is poised to bring new life to the North Branch of Chicago River via a mix of commercial, residential, and recreational spaces.
