Plan Commission Approves Performance Space In West Town

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved a new commercial development at 1675 N Elston Avenue in West Town. Located east of the highway and near the intersection with W Wabansia Avenue, the proposal will rehab an existing two-story storage building and its adjacent vacant lot. Dubbed ‘The Outset’, the development team operating under the name of 1675 Holdings LLC have brought forward the updated proposal for the site with an undisclosed architect.

Mixed-Use Building Rises at 613 N Ogden Avenue in West Town

The six-story mixed-use building at 613 N Ogden Avenue in West Town continues its ascent, with the street wall now at the fourth level. Developed by Urban Edge Group, the project will yield nine residential units above ground-level retail. The plan also includes a ground-level garage for up to 11 vehicles, accompanied by an elevator.

Inspire West Town Now Complete at 670 N May Street

Construction has officially completed for Inspire West Town, an eight-story mixed-use project located at 670 N May Street (previously under the address 1140 W Erie). The construction, backed by Bond Companies, is currently at the leasing stage, with the majority of the podium structure already completed.

Permit Issued for 2417 W Walton Street in West Town

A construction permit has been granted for a new residential development located at 2417 W Walton Street in West Town. The project will feature a three-story residential building with three dwelling units, replacing a mostly vacant lot with a small one-story masonry building on the site. The listed owner of the project is Nicholas Wrobel.

1065 N Paulina Receives Permit in East Village

A construction permit been issued for a three-story residential building at 1065 N Paulina Street in West Town‘s East Village neighborhood. Filed under 1065 N Paulina LLC, the building will come with a rooftop deck, a rooftop stair enclosure, a rear porch on the first floor, rear decks on the second and third floors, a basement, and a three-vehicle detached garage with a rooftop deck. The project will replace a two-story gabled masonry residence, which received a demolition permit last month.

Dual-Restaurant Renovation Coming to 1235 W Grand Avenue in West Town

Interior demolition permits have been issued as the first step in a double-restaurant renovation at 1235 W Grand Avenue in West Town. The project involves the removal of non-load bearing partitions, ceiling tiles, cabinetry, counters, and kitchen equipment as needed to prepare for the renovation and alteration of the spaces. The work will affect the basement, first floor, and second floor of the three-story brick building.

Permits Issued for 1533 W Fry Street in West Town

New construction permits have been issued for a four-story, multi-unit residential building located at 1533 W Fry Street in West Town. RED Architects is behind the design, while K2 Studio is the architect of record. Plans indicate six units with front- and rear-covered open decks on the first floor, covered open front decks on the third floor, an open rear rooftop deck, and a four-story open egress stairwell. Plans also include a detached six-vehicle garage and two off-street parking spaces with electric charging stations.

Demolition Permits Issued for 910 N Wood Street in West Town

Demolition permits have been issued for the removal of a three-story multi-unit masonry residence located at 910 N Wood Street in West Town’s East Village neighborhood. Permits were most recently submitted for the property in 2021 for the current structure.

Caisson Permits Issued for Parking Garage at New West Town Warehouse and Distribution Center

A caisson permit has been issued for the parking garage portion of a major new warehouse and distribution center in West Town, just west of the river at 1104 N Elston Avenue. This 405-vehicle garage segment will be located at the southern end of the 11-acre property and will connect directly to the new Class A warehouse building via a skybridge. The project as a whole is being developed by Logistics Property Company and designed by Ware Malcomb.

New Permits Issued for 2260 W Erie Street in West Town

New permits have been issued for a three-story multi-unit building located at 2260 W Erie Street in the West Town neighborhood. The parcel address is 2258 W Erie Street and the permit owner has been listed as Faha Management and plans show this will be a two-flat, with a basement level and a rooftop deck. The building will feature rear decks on the first and second floors as well as a connecting metal egress stair.
