West Town

On the second day of June, the City of Chicago authorized the demolition of a single-story commercial building at 1332 West Grand Avenue in West Town. Home to Aya Pastry until its closing in August of last year, the site will be transformed into a new-construction residential building with ground-floor retail space. Builder Luxury is named in the demo permit as the contractor for the razing at a reported cost of $25,000.

Construction will top out soon for the residential redevelopment of the Arandas Tires & Rims shop at 1501 North Ashland Avenue in the Pulaski Park neighborhood of West Town. Block work has risen to the fifth and final floor on all four sides of the building, and textured brick covers much of the west and south façades facing Ashland Avenue and West Le Moyne Street.

The Northbrook developer that delivered The Trieuth on North Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Square has received a permit to new a residential building at 1853 West Grand Avenue in West Town. Northshore Development Group LLC got permission on May 12 to erect a four-story plus basement, four-unit building with an attached two-car garage. The permit’s application start date was on January 5, and it was issued with a reported cost of $975,000.

The City of Chicago issued a permit on the 3rd of April to allow construction of a four-story plus basement, three-unit residential building at 1480 West Huron Street in West Town. the permit cites a reported cost of $1,513,200 and shows an application date of March 13, a wait in the data portal of just 21 days.
