Construction permits have been approved for a new three-story, four-unit residential building in West Town. In addition to the planned units, the development will come with a rooftop deck and stair enclosure, a basement, front and rear decks, and a rear four-car garage with a separate rooftop deck. The project is filed under Sean Walsh, while the site is currently occupied by a two-story frame building. Demolition permits for this existing structure were issued late last month.

Exterior Work Makes Headway at 1525 N Elston Avenue in West Town

With window installation now complete, the remaining metal paneling is being installed for a unique boutique office building, rising six stories at 1525 N Elston Avenue in West Town. Prior to development, the property was occupied by two masonry residential buildings and a vacant lot.

Inspire West Town’s Core Reaches Full Height at 1140 W Erie Street

The two elevator and stair cores have now reached full height at Inspire West Town, hinting at the eight-story project’s future presence beside the Kennedy Expressway. Located at 1140 W Erie Street, the building is being developed by Bond Companies, and is set to include a mix of ground-level retail and 113 rental apartment units. A total of 23 affordable units will be provided under the affordable requirements ordinance, six of which will be on-site and the remaining 17 elsewhere in the vicinity.

Permits were issued recently for a new three-story residential building at West Town‘s 2612 W Chicago Avenue, currently occupied by a one-story commercial building. Gerard Coyle is the owner, whose project scope will include six total units, a rooftop deck, and a detached six-car garage with its own rooftop deck.

Construction permits have been issued for a new four-story residential building at 1423 W Huron Street in West Town. The owner is listed as Wentworth 50 LLC, whose plans will include a four-bedroom duplex basement and ground-level unit, a two-bedroom single-floor unit above, and a three-bedroom duplex at the top. This second duplex will house the majority of the living space on its first level, while the second level will be occupied by two private rooftop deck areas, between which is small penthouse enclosure containing the duplex’s third bedroom and bath. The project will also come with a detached three-car garage in the rear.

City Council Approves Final Landmark Designation of Morton Salt Warehouse Complex in West Town

The Chicago City Council has approved the landmark designation of the Morton Salt Warehouse Complex in West Town. Addressed at 1357 N Elston Avenue, the complex is located at the intersection of N Elston Avenue and W Blackhawk Street. The eastern edge of the site is along the northern branch of the Chicago River. Blue Star Properties and R2 Companies are the developers and owners behind the complex.
