Demolition permits were issued yesterday for a two-story residential building at 855 N Paulina Street in West Town. The lot is currently occupied by a two-story masonry residence. The permit owner is listed as The Alverna Group, LLC. YIMBY previously reported on this property in February when permits were issued for new construction.

CTA L access is available for the Blue Line at Chicago station via a 16-minute walk east. The nearest bus service is Route 66 and can be accessed via a two-minute walk south at the Chicago & Paulina stop. Those looking to enjoy dining and retail options can find a plethora of offerings nearby along Ashland and Chicago Avenues.

J Kearney Inc will be serving as the demolition contractor on this project. With the issuance of this demolition permit, construction will soon likely begin on the new construction.

  1. Most of these tear downs are disgraceful. It’ll likely be replaced my a mostly-cinderblock building too…

    • I just can’t even stand to see these anymore. I feel like I’m reading the death notices in the paper sometimes when I scroll through these updates. It just makes no sense.

    This is a gorgeous bldg.,what a waste to see it get torn down.It is probably over a hundred years old. The city is loosing all of its character by tearing all of the older bldgs down and replacing them with bldgs that are crap that won’t last 50 years.
