Part One: Full Details Revealed For LaSalle Street Reimagined

Full details have been revealed for the six finalists of the city’s LaSalle Street Reimagined in The Loop. Announced last year the program is looking to distribute $196 million in city funds from the LaSalle Central TIF District for redevelopment projects along the street, bound by W Van Buren Street to the south and W Washington Street to the north. After receiving nine-bids for buildings who are struggling with high vacancy rates, it was narrowed down to six which were presented at a community meeting last week.

Initial TIF Granted For South Shore Mixed-Use Development

Funding has been partially approved for part of the mixed-use development centered at 2935 E 79th Street in South Shore. Located on the corner with S Exchange Avenue in front of the Cheltenham/79th Street Metra station, the multi-lot project will redevelop a pair of existing buildings and create new opportunities for home ownership. Dubbed ‘Thrive Exchange’, developer DL3 Realty is working with KOO Architects and Site Design Group on the design of the proposal which won a 2021 Invest South/West RFP.

Permits Approved For Affordable Mixed-Use Development In Englewood

Initial construction permits have been approved for the first phase of the mixed-use Thrive Englewood development at 914 W 63rd Street in Englewood. Located on the corner with S Halsted Parkway near Kennedy-King College, the multi-phase project received City Council approval late last year and is now one step closer to breaking ground. Developer DL3 Realty has worked on similar projects nearby including the recently announced Washington Park National Bank building, and is working with Perkins + Will on Thrive’s design.

Final Proposals Revealed For DPD East Garfield Park RFQ

The Chicago Department of Planning and Development (DPD) has announced their three finalists for the East Garfield Park RFQ. Although the Request For Qualifications (RFQ) is made up of three sites, this first phase will focus on one site across the street from The Hatchery located at 3209 W Lake Street. Right on the intersection with N Kedzie Avenue, all proposals will defer the two remaining sites onto a future development phase.
