Initial details have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 11420 S Halsted Street in Morgan Park. Located on the easternmost end of the neighborhood on the intersection with W 115th Street, the multi-phase proposal aims to replace an abandoned ex-Jewel Osco store and its large adjacent parking lot. Dubbed Morgan Park Commons, the team at Far South Side Development Corporation is developing the project and working with local firm Lamar Johnson Collaborative who has recent experience in affordable housing and residential work.

A groundbreaking ceremony has been held for the affordable mixed-use development at 6300 S Maryland Avenue in Woodlawn. Located on the southeast corner with S Maryland Avenue, the proposal is the first project being built under the Woodlawn Housing Preservation Ordinance which was approved in mid 2020. Dubbed Park Station, developer DL3 Realty, who is behind other projects in Woodlawn and Englewood has partnered with local firm FitzGerald Associates on the structure’s design.

Developer Housing For All LLC is leading the effort for the affordable workforce housing proposal which was designed by Cordogan Clark & Associates.

Located on the northeast corner with W Division Street, the upcoming structure received foundation permits and will replace a vacant lot across the street from the neighborhood’s namesake park. Located just east of the intersection with N Pulaski Road, the new structure will replace an empty lot and three masonry industrial buildings that currently occupy the space. Led by 548 Development who is working on similar projects through the Invest South/West initiative, the proposal is being designed by local firm Lamar Johnson Collaborative with the community in mind.
