Permit Review Committee Approves Morton Salt Adaptive Reuse Project in West Town

The Permit Review Committee, a subcommittee of the Commission on Chicago Landmarks, has approved the adaptive reuse of the former Morton Salt Warehouse Complex. Located at 1357 N Elston Avenue in West Town, the former manufacturing complex is bound by the north branch of the Chicago river to the east, N Elston Avenue to the west, and W Blackhawk Street to the north. The nearest public transportation is the 70 CTA Route accessed at the Division and Elston bus stop, a five-minute walk from the property. The Division CTA L station on the Blue Line is a 13-minute walk away. Blue Star Properties is developing the project in collaboration with R2 Companies.

Final Touches Remain for 110 N Wacker Drive in The Loop

Ground-level landscaping and other exterior work is rapidly approaching completion at 110 N Wacker Drive, where Howard Hughes Corporation and Riverside Investment & Development have constructed a 56-story office tower in The Loop‘s northwest corner.

Zoning Approved for New Development at 1200 W Carroll Avenue in the West Loop

Zoning has been approved for a new commercial development at 1200 W Carroll Avenue in the West Loop. The site is located along W Carroll Avenue, between N Racine Avenue and N Elizabeth Street, taking up most of the block on the northern side of the street. The northern edge of the site is bounded by the Metra tracks. The Morgan CTA L station, serviced by the Green and Pink Lines, is an eight-minute walk away. Sterling Bay is in charge of the development of the project.

Permit Revisions for Nine-Story Office Addition at Fulton Market’s 732 W Randolph Street

The new wing will be owner-occupied by 730 Randolph, LLC.

Development at 839 W 79th Street in Auburn Gresham Receives TIF Funding

A new redevelopment at 839 W 79th Street in Auburn Gresham has been granted Tax Increment Financing (TIF). Led by the Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation (GAGDC), the project looks to redevelop an existing four-story structure and turn it into a mixed-use development that will serve the community. Located along W 79th Street, the building sits on an interior lot between S Green Street and S Peoria Street.

Located on a corner lot, the project sits at the southwest corner of the intersection of W Grand Avenue and N Wood Street. The nearest public transportation is the 65 CTA Bus, accessed at the Grand and Wood stop on the edge of the site. The Ashland CTA L station, serviced by the Green and Pink Lines, is a 13-minute walk away. Salina Vest and Planrise LLC are in charge of the project development.

Construction Permits Issued for Fulton Labs at 400 N Aberdeen Street In West Loop

Last month, YIMBY reported that the 16-story office building at 400 N Aberdeen Street, dubbed “Fulton Labs,” had received its initial demolition permits. This past week, full construction permits were issued for the project, with foundation and structural work likely to begin this fall.

Conversion of Landmarked Marshall Field & Company Building Nears Completion in The Loop
