The Commission on Chicago Landmarks (CCL) has granted approval to a new building at 1020 W Randolph Street in the West Loop. Located within Fulton-Randolph Market District, and the northeast corner of W Randolph Street and N Carpenter Street, the development looks to demolish a one-story bank with drive-through and construct a new five-story structure with mechanical enclosure, penthouse, and rooftop deck. The project is being led by L3 Capital, who will also be applying for a zoning ordinance for the site.
Construction work is nearing completion on Porte Chicago, a two-tower mixed-use development at 845 W Madison Street in the West Loop. Located on a full block lot, the site is bounded by W Madison Street to the north, W Monroe Street to the south, S Peoria Street to the west, and S Green Street to the east. The project is designed by architect GREC Studio and co-developed by the John Buck Company and Lendlease.
Permits have been issued for a four-story residential building at 1838 N Western Avenue in Logan Square. The project site is located along N Western Avenue, between W Moffat Street and W Cortland Street. The nearest public transportation is the Western CTA L station, serviced by the Blue Line, less than a two-minute walk away. The 49 CTA bus line can be accessed below the Western CTA L station. Real estate developer Comet Development LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications for the demolition of the existing structure. Reports show that Stepline Development LLC is also involved.
Construction has begun on two residential buildings as part of the larger Southbridge development in the Near South Side near Chinatown. The six-story structures are addressed as 2310 S State Street and 2344 S State Street. The master-planned development will create over 900 affordable housing units to serve the southern side of Chicago, replacing the previous Harold Ickes Homes demolished in 2010. The site has frontage along State Street between W 23rd Street and W 24th Street. The nearest public transportation is the 29 CTA bus line running past the development on State Street with stops at 23rd and 24th Streets. Additionally, the Cermak-McCormick Place CTA station, serviced by the Green Line, is a five-minute walk away.
