Topping off at 13 stories, 448 N LaSalle Drive has reached its full height in River North. YIMBY previously reported on the office development which filed for construction permits this past spring. Construction photos currently show the building’s structure reaching the final floor, where the rooftop deck will be. Additionally, the main curtain wall now covers the first seven floors, with the eighth floor partially installed.

Jaime Javors is the developer of the $9 million project, with Lendlease US as the general contractor and Tod Desmarais of Lamar Johnson Collaborative as the architect of record. 448 N LaSalle’s design features a series of bold, dark-gray floor slips and mullions enclosing large windows around the structure’s rectangular massing. An additional detached core stretches the building’s south face.
The building will consist of a total 174,599 square feet of space, and offer amenities including a rooftop deck, bike storage, a gym, and other public gathering spaces.
The boutique-sized office development is located at the corner of N LaSalle Drive and W Illinois Street, just west of a wide selection of restaurants and bars along W Illinois, W Hubbard, and W Kinzie streets. Nearby transit includes the Illinois & LaSalle bus stop at the same intersection, serviced by routes 66 and 156. Closest CTA L service is via the Brown and Purple Lines at Merchandise Mart station, just northwest of the retail and commercial hub Merchandise Mart, Chicago’s largest building by floor area.
Construction will be completed in the first half of 2021, with a full opening following soon after.
