The Thompson at Fulton Market Completes in Near West Side

Marquette Companies has completed and celebrated the grand opening of The Thompson at Fulton Market, a 210-unit mixed-use apartment complex located at 150 N Ashland Avenue in the Near West Side. Occupying the site of the former Mary Thompson Hospital, this development combines a newly constructed 12-story building with a renovated five-story brick building from the 1920s. The project is named in honor of Dr. Mary Thompson, Chicago’s first female doctor and first woman known to have performed major surgery.

Evanston Labs Undergoes Final Cladding Installation in Evanston

The construction of Evanston Labs, a 10-story office and lab building, is nearing completion near Northwestern University at 710 Clark Street. The project, developed by Trammell Crow Company and designed by ESG Architecture & Design, covers an area of 177,575 square feet. The curved design of the exterior is made up of bronze, glass, and tan paneling. The building is tailored to host companies in biomedicine, nanotechnology, and neuroscience and offers eight levels of office and laboratory space.

151 N Michigan Wraps Up Construction in New Eastside

Since our last update this past September, the facade has been fully installed for a three-story, 74-foot-tall commercial building at 151 N Michigan Avenue in the New Eastside neighborhood. The project, developed by BJB Partners, is set to replace a former single-story restaurant, offering 15,000 square feet of new commercial space.

360 N Green Street Approaches Exterior Completion as Countdown’s Third Tallest Project

As the third tallest construction project in our year-end countdown, the 24-story 360 N Green Street in Fulton Market is undergoing final exterior and landscaping work. The 500,000-square-foot office building, developed by Sterling Bay, will feature office spaces, 5,400 square feet of retail space, and a range of tenant amenities. Floor plates will scale up to over 26,000 square feet, offering tenants access to private balconies between 249 and 523 square feet on each floor.

Hyde Park Labs’ Steel Structure Ascends, Securing #17 Spot in Building Countdown

Steel is making its way up Hyde Park Labs, a 13-story building within the Harper Court Complex in Hyde Park. Ranking 17th in our countdown, this 215-feet-tall mixed-use development, located at 5201 S Harper Avenue, is a collaboration between The University of Chicago, Trammell Crow Company, and Beacon Capital Partners. Having topped out its core earlier this year, the $225 million project will offer 302,000 square feet of space. The structure is primarily intended for STEM-focused companies and includes lab and office areas, as well as 4,000 square feet designated for retail and various tenant amenities.

Arthur on Aberdeen Ranks #18 in Year-End Countdown

This 19-story, mixed-use building Fulton Market stands out as the 18th highlight in our year-end roundup. Nearing the end of construction, this 154-foot development by Marquette Companies merges modern design with historical architecture, integrating a 1920s five-story brick building into its south side.

Rush Specialty Hospital Takes 30th Place In 2023 Countdown

We continue our 2023 countdown with the 30th place going to the Rush Specialty Hospital at 516 S Loomis Street in Little Italy. Located on the northwest corner of the intersection with W Harrison Street, the building is receiving its final touches as construction quickly wraps up prior to winter. The project is a collaboration between the Rush University System and Select Medical, with GWG3 Architecture working on its design.

Final Exterior Work Spotted at Arthur on Aberdeen in Fulton Market

The 19-story mixed-use development at 210 N Aberdeen Street in Fulton Market is approaching the completion of its facade. The project, led by LG Development Group and named “Arthur on Aberdeen,” covers 406,000 square feet and is situated on an L-shaped plot. Located between Aberdeen Street to the east and May Street to the west, the structure will offer 363 total residential units, 73 of which will be affordable, and 10,700 square feet of retail space.
