In an ever-growing forest of West Loop cranes, the 15-story condominium development known as Embry has now installed its own tower crane at 21 N May Street. Sulo Development is behind the project, with plans for 58 total residences, scaling from two- to four-bedroom floor plans and ranging in size between 1,828 and 5,187 square feet.
Adaptive re-use work has made extensive progress at the Morton Salt Factory at 1357 N Elston Avenue in West Town. Developer trio R2 Companies, Blue Star Properties, and Skydeck have planned for a new office and entertainment embedded within the shell of the former factory.
This week, a land acquisition deal was successfully closed for 170 N Green Street in West Loop’s Fulton Market District. The transaction was carried out between CRG, the development and real estate arm of Clayco; Shapack Partners, a Fulton Market-based real estate development company; and Bridgford Foods. Once occupied by the 156,000-square-foot Bridgford Foods processing facility, the 1.5-acre site will give way to a massive new mixed-use development co-planned by CRG and Shapack.
The Committee on Design has reviewed initial plans for a mixed-use development at 3950 N Damen Avenue and 3959 N Lincoln Avenue in North Center. Located on the six-corner intersection with W Irving Park Road, the two building proposal will replace a large parking lot and a MB Financial drive-thru bank west of Damen Avenue, as well redevelop and expand the existing 5/3 Bank building east of Lincoln Avenue. Developers CRG and Ravine Park Partners are working with local architecture firm Lamar Johnson Collaborative on the new design.
Updated plans were presented to the Committee on Design for a residential development at 12 W Maple Street in the Gold Coast neighborhood. Located just west of the intersection with N State Street and on the same block of the upcoming 1130 N State Street tower, the project looks to bring designer residences to the area. New developers Fern Hill, who is behind the upcoming Old Town redevelopment, and Calmwater Capital are working with architecture firm Lamar Johnson Collaborative on the design of the updated tower.
