The renowned Jewelers Building at 35 E Wacker Drive in The Loop has been officially sold to two new owners. Sitting on the intersection with N Wabash Avenue along the Chicago River, the nearly 100-year-old structure could potentially see a partial conversion in the future. Its new owners are developers Prime Group and CRG according to Crain’s.
220 North Ada received a full building permit on June 12, allowing general contractor Clayco to take the new apartment tower to its full 29-story height. Working in tandem with concrete contractor Adjustable Concrete Construction, the core is rising on site now, while a parking ramp is taking shape. As of Friday, crews have reached the underside of the second floor across most of the half-block-long site.
Two residential construction projects in Chicago, 220 North Ada in Fulton Market and 400 Lake Shore in Streeterville, erected tower cranes on their respective job sites last week. The two new cranes mark the 10th and 11th to operate in the city in the month of May.
A tower crane base has sprouted at the 220 North Ada construction site in the West Loop. General contractor Clayco and concrete contractor Adjustable Concrete Construction will soon erect the full crane. That means this 29-story, 308-unit apartment tower will be going vertical in no time.
Construction has officially commenced for a new mixed-use development at 220 N Ada Street, on the corner of W Fulton Street in Fulton Market. The project, initially proposed in 2021 under the address 1353 W Fulton Street, is being developed by Shapack Partners, CRG, and KMW Communities. The plans received city approvals in 2022, but have recently undergone design changes.
