Plan Commission Approves Lakefront Megadevelopment at Former Michael Reese Hospital Site in Bronzeville

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the Bronzeville Lakefront Megadevelopment planned for the former Michael Reese Hospital site in Bronzeville. The 71-acre site spans a large parcel of land from E 26th Street to E 31 Street from north to south, and from S Martin Luther King Drive to S Lake Park avenue from west to east respectively. The existing Prairie Shores residential complex is included in the scope of this project, but will remain unchanged.

Renderings have been revealed for a two-tower proposed mixed-use development located at 601 W Monroe Street in West Loop Gate. Located on a rectangular lot, the site sits along W Monroe Street, spanning the entire width of the block from S Jefferson Street to S Desplaines Street. Currently a surface parking lot, the parcel is directly adjacent to Heritage Green Park. Pacific Reach Properties is the developer behind the proposal.

Zoning has been approved for a two-building mixed-use development located at 1131 and 1135 W Winona Street in Uptown. Located on an L-shaped site, the project is bound by W Winona Street to the north, N Broadway to the west, the CTA L tracks to the east, and two existing buildings to the south.

Construction has broken ground on Schiller Place Apartments in the Near North Side. The three-building residential complex will span a narrow site between N Halsted Street and N Ogden Avenue, and will be addressed at 711 W Schiller Street, 731 W Schiller Street, and 749 W Schiller Street. Evergreen Real Estate Group and Structured Development are the developers behind the project.

Located at 4441 W Irving Park Road, the community facility site spans the full block from N Kenneth Avenue to N Kilbourn Avenue. Planned by Northwestern Medicine, the development will replace multiple structures currently fronting W Irving Park Road.

Zoning has been approved for the updated Big Deahl development, generally located at 1450 N Dayton Street in the Near North Side. The v-shaped project site is bound by N Kingsbury Street to the west, W Blackhawk Street to the north, and N Dayton Street to the east. Structured Development is in charge of the proposal.

Zoning has been approved for a mixed-use structure at 1340 W Washington Boulevard in West Loop. Located on the site of the Chicago Journeyman Plumber Local 130 UA campus, the structure will actually be located along W Randolph street, within the 4.1-acre larger campus addressed as 1340 W Washington Boulevard. The larger campus is bound by W Randolph Street, W Washington Boulevard, N Ada Street, N Ogden Avenue, and the recently-completed Plumbers Training Facility to the west. The development is being led by the Chicago Journeyman Plumber Local 130 UA and Chicago Title and Trust Company.

Landmarks Commission Approves Class L Tax Incentive for 208 S LaSalle Street in The Loop

The Commission on Chicago Landmarks (CCL) has approved the application for a Class L tax incentive for 208 S LaSalle Street in The Loop. Home to the Continental and Commercial National Bank Building, the site is located along S LaSalle Street, between W Adams Street and W Quincy Street. The Prime Group is the developer behind the application.
