Plan Commission Approves Parkway Residences In South Loop

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the residential development at 1225 S Indiana Avenue in the South Loop. Located on the northeast corner of the intersection with E 13th Street in the rear of One Museum Park, the proposal dubbed ‘Parkway Residences‘ will replace a long-time vacant lot marked for a low-density project. Developer Greif Properties is working with local firm 2RZ Architecture on the building and Blue Stem Design on its landscape.

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved revised plans for the residential development at 438 W Saint James Place in Lincoln Park. Located west of the intersection with N Lakeview Avenue near the lakefront, the proposal will replace an existing two-flat and hug the adjacent 13-story mid-rise. Now after the original plans had already been approved mid-2022, developer St. James Interest, LLC has returned with an updated design from local firm Hirsch MPG.

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved updated plans for the residential development at 453-455 W Briar Place in Lake View East. Located mid-block between N Sheridan Road to the east and N Broadway to the west, the upcoming proposal will replace a pair of single-family homes from the early 1900s on the quiet one-way road. Developer GVP Development has been working with SGW Architecture on the unique structure which received City Council approval earlier this year.

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the redevelopment of the Van Buren Metra station within Grant Park in The Loop. Formally located at 401-407 S Michigan Avenue at the northern end of the park’s grand entrance on E Ida B Wells Drive, the station features entrances on both sides of the avenue as well as the famed Paris Metro-style entrance on the east side. Now Metra is proposing a major renovation led by Muller2 Architects with new entrances and updated pedestrian flow.

Updated details have been approved for the residential development at 330 W Chestnut Street in the Near North Side. Located on the intersection with N Orleans Street near the upcoming North Union megadevelopment, the project replaces a vacant lot which has served as a parking lot in recent years. Now developers Draper & Kramer and BlitzLake Partners have returned to the Plan Commission after receiving approval last fall, as they are amending the plans designed by FitzGerald Associates.
