Permits have been issued for an upcoming mixed-use development at 2934 W Medill Avenue in Logan Square. Located just west of the intersection with N Milwaukee Avenue, the upcoming proposal will replace a long-term vacant lot bound by a public alley, the CTA Blue Line tracks, and a parking lot popular with local skaters. Developer Wilmot Properties is working with Chicago-based designers Hanna Architects who is known for their smaller scale projects across the north side.

Updated plans have been approved for the mixed-use redevelopment at 2618 N Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square. Located on the six-corner intersection of the neighborhood, across the street from the CTA Blue Line station and Centennial Monument, the existing structure has gone through various owners with failed plans as well. Now Blue Star Properties and Marc Realty have come back with a new revised plan for the former Grace Furniture building which is being designed by local architecture firm K2 Studio.

ADU’s have a long history not only in Chicago, but nationally and is seeing a resurgence as the demand for affordable housing and new ways to gain equity are increasing as well. The local ordinance repeals laws created against them over 60-years ago in select pilot areas and went into effect May 1, 2022 after being voted on late last year.

New construction permits were issued this past week for a new two-story residential building located at 2138 N Sawyer Avenue in the Logan Square neighborhood. The permit’s owner has been listed as Boris Dukach, and it’s been indicated that the build will house two units and will feature a roof deck. There will also be a detached garage with its own roof deck. This is a sister build from the same team that was issued a permit for 2140 N Sawyer Avenue last month.

New construction permits were issued this past week for a new four-story residential building located at 2010 N Leavitt Street in the Logan Square neighborhood. The permit’s owner has been listed as 2010 N Leavitt Development LLC, and it’s been indicated that the build will house two units and a basement with a walkout level. The building will feature front decks, rear porches, and a roof deck. There will also be a detached garage with its own roof deck. The lot is currently occupied by a masonry residence.
