Affordable Residential Project Opens At 2602 N Emmett Street In Logan Square

An official opening ceremony has been held for the new mixed-use development at 2602 N Emmett Street in Logan Square. Located on the intersection with W Kedzie Avenue, the completed project replaced a vacant parking lot adjacent to the CTA Blue Line Logan Square station. Becoming the first Equitable Transit Oriented Development (ETOD) in the city, it was developed by local non-profit Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation who operates now over 2,000 affordable units across the city. Their team partnered with Chicago-based Landon Bone Baker Architects who are well known for their work on multiple affordable buildings as well.

City Council Approves Residential Development At 2414 N Sawyer Avenue In Logan Square

The Chicago City Council has approved a new residential development at 2414 N Sawyer Avenue in Logan Square. Located just north of the intersection with W Fullerton Avenue, the new project replaces a vacant lot adjacent to a historical courtyard building behind the Social Security Administration office. Developer P3 Properties is working with local design firm McGrath Architects on the new building, which will mark an end to the over 50 years that the site has remained empty.

City Council Approves Projects In Logan Square And West Town

The Chicago City Council has approved a residential development at 1805 N Hamlin Avenue in Logan Square as well as an industrial development at 1237 W Division Street in West Town. Both projects were recently approved by the Plan Commission as well late last month, they will now be able to apply for construction permits and schedule a forthcoming groundbreaking. 1805 N Hamlin Avenue is led by developer Latin United Community Housing Association (LUCHA), while 1237 W Division Street is being proposed by logistics developer LPC Division I.

City Council Approves Pair Of Public Spaces In Logan Square

The Chicago City Council has approved the rezoning for two new public spaces at 2550 N Milwaukee Avenue and 2420 N Sacramento Avenue in Logan Square. Located at either ends of the recently completed Logan Apartments that replaced the long-running Megamall flea market a few years ago. The underutilized lots are being developed by the Chicago Park District in collaboration with Alderman Scott Waguespack and local community groups, all of which are working with the Chicago office of architecture firm SmithGroup on the design of both proposals.

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved updated plans for the residential development at 1805 N Hamlin Avenue in Logan Square. Located right off of the westernmost edge of the 606 trail, the new project replaces a one-story masonry-clad industrial building at the nexus of Logan Square, Humboldt Park, and Hermosa. Dubbed Encuentro Square, developer Latin United Community Housing Association (LUCHA) is working with Canopy Architecture and Site Design Group on the project, which has received some edits from the last time YIMBY reported on the design.
