Pedestrian Street And Historical Polish Designation Approved For N Milwaukee Avenue

The Chicago City Council has approved the pedestrian designation of part of N Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square, as well as a new bill has been introduced establishing the Polish Heritage Corridor on the same road. Both measures are aimed at changing the way developments are built on the quickly changing road while also preserving its human scale and historical importance. The pedestrian designation will be similar to the same recently approved plan for Fulton Market, while the bill was recently introduced this year by Rep. Delia Ramirez.

Initial Renderings Revealed For Skate Park Renovation In Logan Square

Initial details have been revealed for the redesign of the existing skatepark at 2430 W Logan Boulevard in Logan Square. Located right under the Kennedy Expressway, the existing skate park is one of five operated by the Chicago Park District and the only one that operates year-round due to its covered nature. The extensive remodel and redesign is being led by community group Logan Boulevard Skate Park Committee who tapped LA-based Spohn Ranch Skateparks for the conceptual design.

The Community Development Commission has approved Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funds for a new residential development at 1805 N Hamlin Avenue in Logan Square. Dubbed ‘Encuentro Square’ or meet-up square, is being developed by the Latin United Community Housing Association (LUCHA) with Canopy Architecture and Site Design Group serving as the designers for the multi-building project that was announced last year.

Initial details have been revealed for a mixed-use development at 2359 N Washtenaw Avenue in Logan Square. Located on the southeast corner with W Fullerton Avenue, the new project would replace a one-story masonry-clad credit union bank and its 0.3 acre lot with two structures. The project is being designed and developed by Chicago-based Hibernian Development who has been working on single family homes in the area since 1998.
