It has been one month since the permit was issued on March 14 to get started on the site, and Stalworth Underground, whose machinery had been moved into place once demolition of the Chicago Tribune Freedom Center was complete, started caisson efforts immediately.

Permission Granted To Transform Homan Square Multi-Plex Into Indoor Soccer Facility

A renovation permit was issued last week by the City of Chicago to turn an empty theater complex in the Homan Square neighborhood into an indoor soccer field and sports facility. The approval allows Chicago Sports, Inc to transform the former Cinemas Entertainment multi-plex in Lawndale Plaza at 3330 West Roosevelt Road. The application for the permit was filed on October 2 of last year, and permission was granted on April 11, a wait of 191 days. The permit indicates a reported construction cost of just $120,000.

Happy Village Progress Marked By Two-Story Expansion Next Door

Renovation and expansion work on what was once the Happy Village bar is progressing well on Wolcott Avenue in the East Village neighborhood of West Town. A summer 2024 visit to the site showed little more than the north portion of the original building gutted, with barren space behind it and to the south. Now, lot where the demolished single-story portion of the bar used to sit has been improved with a two-story building that stretches to the rear of the construction site.

Developer Lands Permits For Two SFRs On Albany Avenue In Irving Park

Two permits have been issued by the city that allow a developer to build a pair of single-family residences in the 4000 block of North Albany Avenue in Irving Park. North Albany LLC, registered in Deerfield, IL, received a permit for 4017 North Albany on April 3, and one for 4015 North Albany on April 10. Both applications were filed on March 6 of this year, and both show a reported cost of $650,000.
