City Council Approves Roosevelt Square Phase 3B Development in the Near West Side

Chicago City Council has approved the Roosevelt Square Phase 3B Development located in the Near West Side. Located as part of the larger Roosevelt Square plan, the project is part of the redevelopment of the former CHA ABLA Homes. Spread across four parcels, the sites include 1002 Racine Avenue, 1257 W Roosevelt Road, 1357 W Roosevelt Road, and 925 S Ada Street. Related Midwest is the developer behind the entire plan, partnering with the Chicago Housing Authority.

The Chicago City Council has approved a mixed-use development at 140 N Ashland Avenue in the Near West Side. Located at the intersection of N Ashland Avenue and W Lake Street, the project site is across from Union Park. The existing structure on the site is the current home of the Women’s Treatment Center, who will be downsizing their operation and moving out of the building. Marquette Companies is the developer behind the proposal.

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved a mixed-use development at 140 N Ashland Avenue in the Near West Side. Located at the intersection of N Ashland Avenue and W Lake Street, the project site is across from Union Park. The Chicago City Council has fully approved a mixed-use development for Westhaven Park Phase IID in Near West Side. Located at 1959 W Lake Street, the project site fronts N Damen Avenue spanning from W Lake Street to W Maypole Avenue. The property is located adjacent to the CTA Green Line tracks where a new Damen station is expected. Brinshore Development and The Michaels Organization are the developers behind the proposal.

Damen CTA Green Line Station Set to Break Ground in 2021 in Near West Side

After years of delay, construction is expected to begin this year on the Damen CTA Green Line station in the Near West Side. Planned for the intersection of N Damen Avenue and W Lake Street, the new station will add a new stop to the CTA Green Line, replacing a historic station closed in 1948.

Permits Issued for 919 S Aberdeen Street in Little Italy

Permits have been issued for a three-story apartment building at 919 S Aberdeen Street in Little Italy. MBZ Properties LLC is the filing owner, whose plans include two total units, as well as parking for two cars on an exterior parking slab. Currently, the site is occupied by a two-story detached frame residence with a smaller two-story frame enclosure in the rear.

Permits Issued for 2127 W Madison Street in United Center Park

Last week, YIMBY reported on a medium-sized mixed-use development at 2139 W Madison Street in Near West Side‘s United Center Park. Permits were also issued this month for an adjacent, similar-sized building by the same developer at 2127 W Madison Street. The development will be a five-story building, for which 2127 W Madison LLC is planning two retail spaces at ground level, with 40 units above. Parking, meanwhile, will include 40 on-site spaces for its residents. As there are no current lots with a 2127 address number, it is unclear if the building’s footprint will occupy the two adjacent 2125 and 2129 parcels.

Full Permits Issued for 2139 W Madison Street in Near West Side

Full construction permits have been issued for a five-story mixed-use building located at 2139 W Madison Street in Near West Side. Previously, YIMBY had reported on foundation permits issued in October. The owner, filed under 2127 W Madison LLC, has planned two retail spaces at ground level, with 48 units on the floors above. Parking will include 48 on-site spaces.

Permits Issued for 2250 W Jackson Boulevard in Near West Side

Construction permits have been issued for a four-story residential building, located at 2250 W Jackson Boulevard near the southwest corner of Near West Side. The owner, filed under 2250 W Jackson LLC, has planned four total units, as well as a rooftop deck and detached four-car masonry garage.
