Updated Plans Revealed For Chicago Fire Training Facility In Near West Side

Updated plans have been revealed to the community for a new sporting facility within Addams/Medill Park at 1434 S Loomis Street in the Near West Side. The park which is roughly bound by W Roosevelt Road, S Loomis Street, W 14th Street, and S Ashland Avenue is near the growing Illinois Medical District and has been host to major music festivals in the past. The project is being developed by the Chicago Fire Football Club with Crawford Architects working on its revised design.

Funding Secured For National Public Housing Museum In Near West Side

New funding has been secured for the National Public Housing Museum at 925 S Ada Street in the Near West Side. The project is part of the greater Roosevelt Square Plan which includes various residential developments led by Related Midwest and the Chicago Housing Authority. The museum itself will be one of the first of its kind and occupy around 2/3rds of a larger shared building with 15 residential units. The funds will help kick-start construction on the proposal designed by the Chicago based firms of HED Architects and Landon Bone Baker Architects.

A permit was issued this week for a new five-story mixed-use building located at 2354 W Polk Street in the Near West Side neighborhood. The owner on the permit is listed as 749 Western Funding LLC. The building address for the development is 753 S Western Avenue, and per plans will include a total of 20 dwelling units. The first floor will house retail space as well as an attached 20-vehicle garage. This will be an elevator building and will include a penthouse on the top floor.

Excavation Progresses for 140 N Ashland Avenue in West Loop

As excavation work wraps up for the new 12-story apartment building at 140 N Ashland Avenue in Near West Side, Marquette Companies is preparing to begin construction on the new mixed-use development. The new building will be integrated with a 1920s-era five-story masonry building directly south, yielding a total of 210 apartments atop ground-level retail. The development will yield at a minimum 10 percent on-site affordable units, with a remaining five percent either on site or off site.
