New Permits Issued for 2240 W Jackson Boulevard in Near West Side

A permit was issued this week for a new three-story residential building at 2240 W Jackson Boulevard in the Near West Side neighborhood. The owner and developer are listed on the permit as Arista Development LLC. There will be a total of three three-bedroom, two-bathroom units clocking in at roughly 1,500 square feet of useable space apiece. The second- and third-floor units will be outfitted with rear decks, and the first-floor unit will have a private patio. The build will also feature a detached three-car masonry garage.

Demolition Permit Issued for 140 N Ashland Avenue in West Loop

Demolition permits have now been issued for a three-story building at 140 N Ashland Avenue in Near West Side, where developer Marquette Companies has planned a 12-story mixed-use building. The to-be-demolished edifice formerly housed the Women’s Treatment Center, which has since relocated as part of a downsizing. Its replacement will integrate with an adjacent 1920s-era brick and limestone building, offering 210 apartments in total.

A new permit has been issued for a three-story residential building located at 2246 W Jackson Boulevard in the Near West Side neighborhood. The permit’s owners are listed as Artista Development LLC. Per plans, the construction will comprised a total of three dwelling units each of which will be outfitted with a rear steel porch and an egress staircase. Plans also indicate the presence of a detached three-car garage.

A new permit has been issued for a three-story residential building located at 1334 W Grenshaw Street in the Near West Side neighborhood. The permit’s owners are listed as 1334-36 W Grenshaw LLC. Per plans, the construction will comprised of four total dwelling units, a basement, two rear porches, and a detached five-car garage. Both structures will be equipped with shared rooftop decks. The construction will replace an existing frame structure.

Per plans, the construction will be comprised of three total dwelling units each outfitted with rear porches. The building will feature a basement and a detached three-car garage. Both structures will be equipped with shared rooftop decks. The construction will replace an existing frame structure.

City Council Approves Funds For Roosevelt Square In Near West Side

The Chicago City Council has approved the financing and land-sale for the Roosevelt Square Phase 3B mixed-use development in the Near West Side. Located across multiple parcels mainly around W Taylor Street and W Roosevelt Road, the project is part of the greater Roosevelt Square Plan that includes the rehabilitation of existing apartments, construction of new housing, and a new National Public Housing Museum. The effort is being led by Related Midwest and the Chicago Housing Authority along with various local design firms.

TIF Money Approved For Barbara Jean Wright Apartments Renovation In Near West Side

The Chicago Community Development Commission has approved the funding for an extensive renovation of the Barbara Jean Wright Apartments located at 1354 S Morgan Street in the Near West Side. The existing development is bound by W Maxwell Street to the north, S Morgan Street to the east, and W 14th Place to the south, along with two other housing projects to the west. Developer Jonathan Rose Companies is heading the effort who has managed over $1.8 billion in properties and recently broke into the Chicago market.

Chicago Fire Announce New Training Facility In Near West Side

Initial plans have been revealed for a new training facility for the Chicago Fire Football Club near 1459 W Roosevelt Road in the Near West Side. The project would replace a majority of the northern half of Addams/Medill Park bound by W Roosevelt Road, S Loomis Street, W 14th Street, and S Ashland Avenue. The project is being led by Chicago Fire owner Joe Mansueto after failing a first attempt to locate the facility in Belmont Cragin which would have employed 220 people a day. At the moment the design architect has not been revealed.

New Demolition Permit Issued for 1402 S Western Avenue Near West Side

A demolition permit has been issued for a two-story, masonry building at 1402 S Western Avenue in the Near West Side neighborhood. The permit’s owners have been listed as 1860 N Elston LLC. As of the time of this writing, no plans appear to have been submitted to upgrade any of the zoning designations for this property and there are currently no plans for any future construction.
