Groundbreaking Held For Chicago Fire Facility In Near West Side

A groundbreaking has been held for the upcoming Chicago Fire FC facility at 1434 S Loomis Street in the Near West Side. Replacing a large majority of Addams/Medill Park which is mostly vacant land, the roughly 30-acre project will bring new life to the area on the former site of four CHA complexes demolished in 2007. The team itself is leading the development with Crawford Architects working on its design.

Initial Permit Issued for mHUB Redevelopment of Cameron Building in Near West Side

A preliminary permit for interior demolition has been granted in preparation for the revitalization of the Cameron Building at 240 N Ashland Avenue in the Near West Side. Situated on the southwest corner at the intersection with W Fulton Street, the historic clocktower building has been vacant for several years and is now proposed as the new headquarters for local incubator mHUB. The non-profit organization is driving the initiative, while Gensler is now confirmed as the project architect.

Sale Announced For Downtown Greyhound Station

The main Chicago Greyhound bus station at 630 W Harrison Street in the Near West Side has been put up for sale for redevelopment. Located on the corner with S Jefferson Street near downtown, it is bound on the north and west sides by the newly redesigned circle interchange and is one of multiple Greyhound stops in the city. After switching hands a few times in the last years, the site has now been listed by Texas-based CBRE in a move that similarly led to the sale of the Greyhound facility where Halsted Pointe is set to rise.

Completion Date Announced For Westhaven Park IID In Near West Side

A completion date has been announced for the upcoming mixed-use development at 1959 W Lake Street in the Near West Side. Located on the intersection with N Damen and directly across the street from the new Damen Green Line station, the project will be one of the final phases of the greater Westhaven Park development near the United Center. The team of Brinshore Development and The Michaels Organization is working with local architecture firm Landon Bone Baker (LBBA) on the design.
