Groundbreaking Held For Roosevelt Square In Near West Side

A groundbreaking has been held for the mixed-use development dubbed Roosevelt Square in the Near West Side. Located on multiple sites across the area near the intersections of W Roosevelt Road and S Racine Avenue, the project will not only construct new housing but also renovate multiple existing structures within its boundaries. Developer Related Midwest is leading the efforts along with the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) and various architects. Permits Issued for 224 S Ashland Avenue in Near West Side

Permits have been issued for constructing a new five-story residential building located at 224 S Ashland Avenue in the Near West Side neighborhood. The permit lists both Roma Fund Investments and Viktor Jakovljevic Revocable Trust as owners. Axios Architects are serving as the architects of record for the project which will involve a ground-floor garage with 56 parking spaces, and 56 dwelling units spread across the remaining four floors. The development will neighbor the existing Circle Park Apartments which is just north of the planned build.

A permit was issued this past week for a new three-story mixed-use building located at 1040 W Taylor Street in the Near West Side neighborhood. Julia Si is listed as the permit owner for this project. Pro Architect is the architect responsible for the project’s design. The structure will have first-floor retail space and two residential apartments spread across the second and third floors respectively.

140 N Ashland Avenue Takes #30 in Year-End Countdown

As the 30th tallest construction project in Chicago’s year-end countdown and set to stand 155 feet in height, 140 N Ashland Avenue is now making headway in Near West Side. The 12-story building by Marquette Companies will attach to an existing five-story brick building, offering a total 210 rental apartments in addition to first-floor retail. At least 10 percent of the units will be affordable, while the remaining five percent will either be on- or off-site (yet to be indicated).

Permits Issued to National Public Housing Museum

The National Public Housing Museum located in the Near West Side neighborhood has been issued renovation permits. The site is located on the corner of W Taylor Street and Ada Street. The permits have been issued under the address 925 S Ada Street. As previously reported, the project is part of the larger Roosevelt Square Plan that seeks to further connect the Taylor Street corridor. The developers are Related Midwest and they continue to work in conjunction with Chicago Housing Authority and local firms HED Architects and Landon Bone Baker Architects.
