Nearing the end of construction, this 154-foot development by Marquette Companies merges modern design with historical architecture, integrating a 1920s five-story brick building into its south side.
Sitting at the 23rd spot of year-end countdown is Westhaven Park IID at 1959 W Lake Street in the Near West Side. The mixed-use project sits on the intersection with N Damen Avenue, across the street from the upcoming CTA Damen Green Line station. The project is a collaboration between Brinshore Development, The Michaels Organization, and Chicago Housing Authority, with LBBA Architectects working on its design.
The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is making notable strides in the construction of the new Damen Green Line Station, located at 2001 W Lake Street in the Near West Side neighborhood. This significant infrastructure project, initially proposed in 2017, had encountered delays and cost increases, raising its value to $80.2 million. The station will occupy a previously vacant site at the intersection with N Damen Avenue, reinstating rail service to a location that had lost its original station back in 1948.
The City of Chicago has issued permits for a new residential development at 2042 W Washington Boulevard in Near West Side. The permit for this project, submitted under the self-certification program on August 14, was approved on November 27, following a 105-day review period.
With demolition now complete and a full permit issued this past September, the planned commercial building at 1323 S Ashland Avenue in Near West Side is currently awaiting foundation work to begin. The property, developed by 4S Bay Partners, was previously occupied by the St. Stephenson Missionary Baptist Church. Designed by BauerLatoza Studio, the replacing building features a modern metal and glass exterior with distinct, color-varied cylindrical sections.
