An official opening has been held for the new Chicago Fire FC – Endeavor Health Performance Center at 1434 S Loomis Street in the Near West Side. The massive facility replaces much of what was Addams/Medill Park that was also the former home of four CHA complexes demolished in 2007. A groundbreaking was originally held mid-2023.

Led by the team itself and Crawford Architects, the facility has faced controversy since its announcement due to its location on land originally meant to be replaced with new affordable housing. The team will be providing over $10 million in donations for community and CHA projects, as well as paying a lease on the land which will help fund future projects nearby.

The complex contains five-full pitches and one half field; one of the full pitches can also be enclosed within an inflatable dome for use during the winter. Anchoring the complex is a 56,000 square-foot HQ and training facility that will also become the home of the Chicago Fire Youth Academy while also partnering with other local organizations to serve the community.

Inside of the two-story structure is a massive new gym with a running track, sauna, hydro pools, various recovery spaces, and a nutrition bar among other spaces. Supporting this is a new locker room, equipment room, laundry room, media room, game analysis room, cafeteria, and office space for the team’s management.

According to team officials, the center rivals that of European and South American teams, which are also normally found in the suburbs. With the space now being open, the team also hopes it will help attract new players from around the world as they work towards building a new 25,000 seat stadium within The 78.
