CTA Blue Line Track Work Completed In The Near West Side

Major track work has been completed for the first portion of the Forest Park Branch Rebuild project from the Chicago Transit Authority. The multi-phase project was announced earlier this summer as part of a greater effort to reduce slow zones along the line and improve passenger experience. The work itself was led by the CTA and will continue with the complete reconstruction of the Racine station.

City Council Approves Fifth Third Arena Expansion In Near West Side

The Chicago City Council has approved the expansion of the Fifth Third Arena at 301 S Damen Avenue in the Near West Side. Replacing a vacant lot adjacent to the existing building, the new structure was approved by the Plan Commission earlier this year as well. The development comes directly from Chicago Blackhawks who are working with Kansas City-based Generator Studio on its design.

Grayscale Facade Paneling Progesses at 140 N Ashland Avenue in Near West Side

The development at 140 North Ashland Avenue is advancing, with fiber cement installation now well underway for this 12-story mixed-use project in the Near West Side. Marquette Companies, the developer, has combined this new structure with a pre-existing five-story brick building from the 1920s on its southern boundary. Upon completion, the building will contain 210 apartments above retail establishments on the ground level.

Permits Issued For CTA Blue Line Racine Station Reconstruction

Initial permits have been issued and renderings revealed for the upcoming reconstruction of the CTA Blue Line Racine station at 418 S Racine Avenue in the Near West Side. The project is part of the first phase of the larger Blue Line reconstruction currently underway, replacing much of the existing tracks we see today. The work is being led by the CTA with local firm Ross Barney Architects working on its design.
