The four-story portion of the Westhaven Park IID project on the south end of the construction site has reached its final height on the Near West Side. We showed you the topped-out 12-story tower back in February; now, both portions are at final height and have been enclosed with windows. This development replaces an empty grass lot bounded by Maypole Avenue, Damen Avenue, and Lake Street. Its construction is running concurrent with the CTA Damen Green Line station across the street.
This phase of the Westhaven Park development will deliver 96 rental apartments to the intersection of Lake Street and Damen Avenue. 25 units will be affordable, 38 will be CHA units, and the remaining 33 will be available at market-rate pricing. Together with the Chicago Housing Authority, Brinshore Development and The Michaels Organization comprise the development team.
Designed by Landon Bone Baker, the project includes 4,300 square feet of retail space and 16 off-street parking spots. McShane Construction and Ashlaur Construction are the general contractors. A September 2024 opening is anticipated.
Residents of Westhaven Park IID will conveniently share the intersection with the currently-under-construction Damen Green Line station. The Route 50 bus also stops here. The 20 and 65 buses are each within a five-block walk. For suburban travel, Metra’s Western Avenue station is about a mile northwest.
