Both the Zoning Committee and Chicago City Council have approved the updated plans for the project at 400 N Lake Shore Drive in Streeterville, allowing it to move forward. Checking in on the Site of the Tribune East Supertall at 421 N Michigan Avenue in Streeterville

YIMBY recently stopped by the site of Tribune East Tower, the newly approved supertall that will become Chicago’s second tallest building. Tribune East is part of the Tribune Tower redevelopment project, which includes the conversion of the original Tribune Tower into 162 condominium units. Developers CIM Group and Golub & Company are leading the development of the $700 million structure that will replace a surface parking lot originally used by Chicago Tribune employees.

Zoning Approved for New Development at 1200 W Carroll Avenue in the West Loop

Zoning has been approved for a new commercial development at 1200 W Carroll Avenue in the West Loop. The site is located along W Carroll Avenue, between N Racine Avenue and N Elizabeth Street, taking up most of the block on the northern side of the street. The northern edge of the site is bounded by the Metra tracks. The Morgan CTA L station, serviced by the Green and Pink Lines, is an eight-minute walk away. Sterling Bay is in charge of the development of the project.

Landmarks Commission Approves Preliminary Landmark Status for the Illinois Bell Building in The Loop

The Commission on Chicago Landmarks (CCL) has approved preliminary landmark status for the Illinois Bell Building in The Loop. Located at 225 W Randolph Street, the building stands at the corner of W Randolph Street and N Franklin Street. The tower rises 427 feet over 31 floors, and was constructed in 1965. The building was originally home to the headquarters of its namesake tenant, the Illinois Bell Telephone Company, while most recently home to AT&T offices.
