Full Permits Issued For Covent Hotel Development In Lincoln Park

Full building permits have been issued for the remaining half of the mixed-use development at 2653 N Clark Street in Lincoln Park. The new project will redevelop the existing Covent Hotel and build a new addition on its surface parking lot at 537 W Drummond Place which received the approval. Local developer Drummond Development has partnered with architecture firm Brininstool + Lynch on the design and restoration while working with the National Historic Preservation Foundation (NHP) on the latter.

New construction permits have been issued for a four-story residential building located at 2034 N Mohawk Street in Lincoln Park. The owner is listed as 2034 N Mohawk LLC. The scope of the project includes four stories and three total dwelling units. The building will have a basement, and the units will be outfitted with front balconies and rear decking. The roof will have its own deck and pergolas. A three-vehicle garage with its own deck will also be on the property site.

Sterling Bay Reveals Plans for Timber Apartment Building in Lincoln Park

Noted Chicago developer Sterling Bay has unveiled ambitious plans to build the city’s largest and tallest timber building since the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. They are planning a nine-story, 130-unit apartment building at 2100 N Southport Avenue in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.

New construction permits have been issued for a four-story residential building located at 1524 N Mohawk Street in Lincoln Park. The owner is listed as Roscore Builders LLC and plans indicate that there will be three total dwelling units. The parcel address is behind 1522 N Mohawk Street and the neighboring building and is addressed as 1526-1528 N Mohawk Street. Demolition permits were issued to 1522 N Mohawk Street earlier this month.

September Groundbreaking Announced for Covent Hotel Redevelopment in Lincoln Park

After six years of approvals and planning, construction is set to begin on the mixed-use Covent Hotel redevelopment this September. Planned by NHP Foundation, who had purchased the property in 2016, in partnership with Drummond Development, the project at 2653 N Clark Street in Lincoln Park will reuse the existing Covent Hotel building while adding a new seven-story edifice to the parking lot behind the existing building. Overseen by Weese Langley Weese Architects, the historic Covent Hotel is being renovated from 64 SRO units into 30 affordable studio apartments. The street-facing ground level will also provide 4,700 square feet of retail space along Clark Street.

Demolition Complete for Former Cenacle Retreat & Conference Center at 513 W Fullerton Avenue in Lincoln Park

Demolition has completed at 513 W Fullerton Avenue in Lincoln Park, the former site of the Cenacle Retreat & Conference Center. Originally developed in 1967, the property was occupied by multiple masonry structures rising seven stories high. While deemed architecturally significant with their modernist designs by Charles Pope, the structures received demolition approval from Commission on Chicago Landmarks anyway. Following the approval, a single wrecking permit was issued this past January. The former owners, The Cenacle Sisters, have long used the complex as a retreat to care for their aging nun population, and chose to sell the property to help fund care for their members.

Structural Work Reaches Full Height for The Porter in Lincoln Park

Structural steel has reached its pinnacle for the frontmost section of “The Porter,” a five-story mixed-use building rising at 2411 N Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Park. Having replaced a privately-owned park at the three-way intersection of Lincoln Avenue, Halsted Street, and Fullerton Avenue, the scheme by Mike Breheny involves 3,700 square feet of retail, a 1,700 square-foot covered patio, and 36 for-rent apartments above.

The scope of work includes three total units and a three-car garage with a roof deck. Demolition permits were issued for this property site last summer.

Permits were issued on Friday for the construction of a three-story residential building which will be located at 2658 N Bosworth Avenue in Lincoln Park. The permit owner is listed as EZMB LLC, and the scope includes three residential units along with a basement. Terraces will be included at the front and rear of the building on the first floor, and the second and third floors will have front-facing decks, as well as a communal deck on the roof. There will also be a three-vehicle garage with its own roof deck. There is an existing building on site.

Facade Work Begins for Edith Spurlock Apartments Addition at 2700 N Sheffield Avenue in Lincoln Park

Ground-floor brickwork is now making its way up the six-story residential building at 2700 N Sheffield Avenue in Lincoln Park. The 85-foot-tall edifice will be the third building in the apartment complex known as Edith Spurlock Apartments, residing between the two existing brick buildings that are being renovated alongside the new construction.
