Final touches can be seen for the redevelopment of the Edith Spurlock Apartment complex in Lincoln Park. With the recent unveiling of “Sheffield of Lincoln Park,” a new six-story addition providing 80 family units, the complex now contains three total buildings. Sheffield of Lincoln Park sits between two existing buildings at 2640 and 2720 N Sheffield, both of which were originally built in 1965. The CHA and PIRHL are behind the $150 million redevelopment.
The upgrades for the existing buildings encompass all 394 units, equipping them with contemporary kitchen fittings, air conditioning, and new floor tiling. An additional 11 units are also being added. The renovation efforts also address infrastructure improvements, focusing on plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, alongside the installation of modern LED lighting in shared spaces, new roofing, and updated elevators.
Residents will have connected access to new communal spaces within Sheffield of Lincoln Park, intended to act as a social hub for up to 200 residents. Other integrated features include a fitness center, administrative offices, 50 on-site parking spaces, and 110 off-site parking spaces. The location is closely accessible to public transportation, including bus Routes 8 and 76 along with the Brown, Purple, and Red Lines via Fullerton Station.
RATIO has served as the architect, while Leopardo Companies and Ujamaa Construction are co-general contractors. A final completion of the renovation is expected for later this year.

I wanted to tell you how valuable your publication has been for me. It is my go to in the morning looking for updates and new leads for my business. It use to be Crain’s but something has happened there and they seem to gotten away from reporting on renovation and new construction projects that you do. I am so satisfied with this and appreciate the fine reporting. Jim Price – The Auburn Corporation
Thank you so much Jim!
Now I would love to see something built on the land in front of these buildings right on the corner of Lincoln/Sheffield/Wrightwood
I agree with Jim Price – this site is so interesting. I don’t use it for work but rather simply to satisfy my interest in sweet home Chicago.
I live 2 blocks from this property and walk/bike past it nearly every day. The residents are mostly folks in wheelchairs or on mobility scooters who need close access to local shops and public transit. So primarily I’m happy that these folks get the aforementioned interior upgrades, plus additional homes on-site. Considering the exterior, it’s rare that a finished building looks just like the initial renderings (or even better) but this one does.
