City Council Approves New High-Rises In Fulton Market

The Chicago City Council has approved the rezoning for two new high-rises in Fulton Market. The projects are located on opposite ends of the district, with the residential-based 1353 W Fulton Street anchoring the west end of the growing area and 360 N Green Street continuing the string of commercial mixed-use properties along Green Street on the eastern end of the neighborhood. Both towers recently received Plan Commission approval as well.

City Council Approves Rezoning For A Commercial Development In The Loop

The Chicago City Council has approved the rezoning for a potential commercial development at 401 S Wacker Drive in The Loop. The wedge-shaped lot is bound by W Van Buren Street on the north, S Franklin Street to the east, and W Ida B. Wells Drive to the south with the Chicago River being just west of the site. The property is currently improved with a large cooling plant and adjacent parking lot owned by Centrio Energy, who began serving the Chicago area in 1995 under their previous name Enwave.

The Chicago City Council has approved the rezoning for a new roastery and cafe at 3110 N Kedzie Avenue in Avondale. Located just north of the intersection with W Barry Avenue right off of the Kennedy Expressway, the shop would repurpose the existing one-story masonry structure that currently houses the Olde Chicago Antiques store. Local business Metric Coffee is behind the plan that has been in motion for a few months with local design firm En-Masse Architecture, previously known as Mike Shively Architecture, on the new outpost.

932 W Randolph Street Redevelopment Crosses Finish Line in West Loop

This week, YIMBY stopped by the commercial redevelopment of 932 W Randolph Street in West Loop. With exterior work now complete, interior construction can be seen progressing as this three-story former bank prepares for tenant occupancy. Developer L3 Capital has converted the former bank into a new retail and office venue, reskinning its outer walls and gutting the interior, while also adding a new segment at the northern end of the property. Last year, plans were revealed for the retail component to be occupied by a showroom for the electric carmaker Rivian.
