Demo Permits Issued for 4447 N Hazel Street in Uptown

Demolition permits have now been issued for a three-story masonry church at 4447 N Hazel Street in Uptown, clearing the way for a five-story residential development. Longford Construction, the developer of the project, has planned 32 total residences, ranging from studios up to two-bedroom units. Of the units, three will be affordable under the Affordable Requirement Ordinance. The development will also include 16 parking spaces in an integrated garage, as well as 32 bike spaces.

The Chicago City Council has approved a planned mixed-use development at 1948 N Halsted Street in Ranch Triangle. Fronting N Halsted Street, the project site is located midblock south of W Armitage Avenue. The site is currently occupied by a single-story building holding the Manhandler Saloon. Mike Krueger is the developer behind the proposal.

Foundation Work Kicks off for 133 S Ashland Avenue in West Loop

Foundation work is now underway for a four-story residential building at 133 S Ashland Avenue, located near the western edge of West Loop. Prior to construction, the property was occupied by a parking lot and a two-story commercial building that was demolished in 2019.

The Chicago City Council has approved an adaptive reuse plan to convert a convent building into apartments at 2219 N Hamilton Avenue in Bucktown. Located on the grounds of Saint Hedwig Catholic Church, the former convent building is located at the intersection of N Hamilton Avenue and W Webster Avenue. Chedid Properties is the developer behind the project.

JAB’s Mixed-Use Development “The Balaban” Opens in Uptown

Work has wrapped up for a five-story mixed-use project known as “The Balaban” located at 4806 N Magnolia Avenue in Uptown. Developed by JAB Real Estate, the project is located directly west of The Uptown Theater and has replaced a former parking lot.
