Demolition permit issued for W.C. Reebie & Brother Storage building in Uptown

A planned renovation of the W. C. Reebie & Brother storage building at 5035 North Broadway in Uptown will include demolition of the front portion of the building. The City of Chicago issued a demolition permit for the 1920-built, George Kingsley-designed structure on August 7. While the permit does not specifically state “partial demolition,” a spokesman for TimeLine Theatre, the building’s owner, confirmed “only the front” of the building will be demolished.

Demo permit issued for 1891-built single-family home at 1836 West Addison Street

A 2,240-square-foot single-family home at 1836 West Addison Street in North Center received a demolition permit from the City of Chicago on August 1. That clears the way for a new rental property to be built on the site. Real estate sites show the home, built in 1891, was listed in March of this year and was on the market for only 73 days. Listed for $1.1 million, it closed in June for $1,025.000.

Demolition has begun for 4640 N Western Avenue in Lincoln Square

Last week, Precision Excavation began demolishing the two-story mixed-use brick building at 4634 N Western Avenue in Lincoln Square, clearing the way for a residential development to begin construction. The new project by the Macon Construction Group has been approved, though not yet permitted, and will see a new six-story building link to the existing four-story structure at 4642 N Western Avenue.
