Demolition At 4553 North Dover In Uptown Complete Ahead Of Construction On 28 Units

Bricks are being salvaged from the former commercial building at Wilson Avenue and Dover Street in Uptown, as the beginning of construction work nears for a new residential development. A permit to get underway was issued back in March, so it is expected the new building will begin post haste once the site is cleaned up completely. Icon Property Management is the developer here, and their construction permit cites a reported construction cost of just over $5 million.

Demolition Permit Issued For Former Branko’s Sandwich Shop In Lincoln Park

A demolition permit has been issued for a two-story masonry building at 1118 West Fullerton Avenue in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. It was the former home of Branko’s Sandwich Shop, a DePaul campus stalwart for almost 50 years. The restaurant closed in 2024, and the building, erected in 1908 and owned by the Branko family, sold earlier this year for $1.1 million, according to real estate records. The permit, issued June 11th, names Precision Excavation as the demolition contractor, at a reported cost of $29,500.

Demolition Permit At 1847 North Mohawk Street In Lincoln Park Will Allow Three New Units

A single-family residence at 1847 North Mohawk Street in Lincoln Park has been purchased by a developer, and a demolition permit has been issued to knock it down. The three-story home, sold in April for $2.1 million, was built in 1988. The permit to raze the structure and its detached frame garage was issued on June 2nd, with the Carlos Group named as the demolition contractor.

Two demolition permits were issued by the City of Chicago to allow BandWith Chicago to remove remnants of the former Loyal Casket Company from their new location. Assigned as 134 South California Avenue and issued on May 22, the permits address a metal building and a loading dock at the south end of the property, which extends from Wilcox Street south to Adams Street.  Alpine Demolition Services is named as the contractor, at a reported combined cost of $32,000. The two demolitions will pave the way for BandWith’s outdoor gathering space and parking lot.
