The City of Chicago has officially selected 1Fifteen at Michigan Station as the winner of the Roseland Michigan Avenue RFQ. The selection comes nearly three years after the RFQ was initially issued in 2022 under the Invest South/West initiative. A construction permit has been issued by the City of Chicago to begin a residential development at Irving Park Road and Seeley Avenue in the North Center neighborhood. The Irving will be a five-story, 37-unit project that replaces a small commercial plaza at 2035 West Irving Park Road that was demolished in 2024 to make way for redevelopment.
Initial details have been revealed for the expansion of 360 Chicago, located at the top of 875 N Michigan Avenue, commonly known as the John Hancock Center. Sitting on the northern end of the Magnificent Mile, which has seen increased retail vacancy, the project comes two years after the famed Signature Room closed its doors.
A demolition permit has been issued for a two-story masonry building at 1118 West Fullerton Avenue in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. It was the former home of Branko’s Sandwich Shop, a DePaul campus stalwart for almost 50 years. The restaurant closed in 2024, and the building, erected in 1908 and owned by the Branko family, sold earlier this year for $1.1 million, according to real estate records. The permit, issued June 11th, names Precision Excavation as the demolition contractor, at a reported cost of $29,500.
Renderings have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 3122 W Belmont Avenue in Avondale. We first covered the proposal at the corner near the Kennedy Expressway earlier this year. The small, wedge-shaped project is being led by Lukaven Development, which has worked on multiple single-family homes in the area.
