Plan Commission Approves Jackson Park Improvements

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved new improvements to the east end of the Midway Plaisance at 5950 S Stony Island Avenue in Hyde Park. This small portion of the park is now within Jackson Park due to the Obama Center construction, with the redesigned Women’s Garden on the east and the Metra Electric line elevated tracks to the west. The project is being led by the Chicago Park District with Site Design Group serving as the designers, with five community meetings leading to the current proposal.

Construction Dates Announced For Next Phases Of Lincoln Yards

An updated construction timeline has been revealed for the Lincoln Yards mega development near Goose Island. With work completed on the initial phase of Ally at 1229 W Concord Place, developer Sterling Bay presented their updated phasing plan closer to what was revealed in 2021 during a recent community meeting. The next round of construction will also be phased out and with structures designed by various firms and plenty of new outdoor space.

Committee On Design Reviews ‘The Ave’ In Humboldt Park

The Chicago Committee on Design has reviewed updated plans for the Invest South/West winning proposal at 3601 W Chicago Avenue in Humboldt Park. Dubbed ‘The Ave’, the project is located on the southwest corner with Central Park Avenue and is part of a larger multi-phase proposal to revitalize various vacant lots across the changing neighborhood. Developer KMW Communities is working with local design firms Gensler, Nia, and Site Design Group on the affordable housing proposal.

Renderings Revealed For Next Phase Of Lincoln Yards

Updated details have been revealed for one of the next phases of the Lincoln Yards mega-development near Goose Island. As work wrapped up on Ally at 1229 W Concord late last year, developer Sterling Bay has shifted its originally announced phasing plan on the HPA and Gensler designed proposal. The change is most likely due to a changing economy and thus brings the two mixed-use structures at the D2 and D3 riverfront parcels just north of Ally to the forefront. While parcels D1 and the market place were set to be delivered prior, no movement has been seen on those, a more detailed breakdown can be found here.
