Adopt-A-Landmark Fund Approved For Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church In Grand Boulevard

The Commission on Chicago Landmarks has approved the Adopt-a-Landmark Fund for the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church at 4501 S Vincennes Avenue in Grand Boulevard. Located on the intersection with E 45th Street, the historical church is credited as being the birthplace of Gospel music and a long term stalwart of the local community. Under a new pastor, the church hopes to see a renaissance as it uses the money for the restoration of the Dankmar Adler designed synagogue, originally built for the Isaiah Temple congregation.

Development Commission Approves Commercial Redevelopment At 5021 S Wabash Avenue In Grand Boulevard

The Chicago Community Development Commission has approved the sale and redevelopment of the existing structure at 5021 S Wabash Avenue in Grand Boulevard. Located just north of the intersection with E 51st Street, the proposal will expand the small streets and sanitation facility into a new culinary center. Developer Urban Equities won the city’s RFP earlier this year and has teamed up with local architecture firm SmithGroup on the restoration and modern design of the new elements.

New Permits Issued for 4728 S Wabash Avenue in Grand Boulevard

A permit was approved early this week for a new three-story residential building at 4728 S Wabash Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood. The owner is listed as Cozi Developments LLC, and the current plans indicate this project will yield two total dwelling units with an open rear staircase as well as a rear concrete patio. The project will also feature a three-vehicle parking pad at the rear. The lot is currently vacant.
