Permits have been issued for the first building within the Legends South development at 4520 S State Street in Grand Boulevard. Located on the southwest corner with W 45th Street, the building will replace a large vacant lot that was once the home of the Robert Taylor Homes. This will be the first of multiple phases to fill in the overall site.
The City of Chicago issued a permit on January 31 to construct a three-story with basement, three-unit building at 4827 South St. Lawrence Avenue in Grand Boulevard. The permit shows an application date of May 20, 2024, and names Jacob Da Builder as the developer and general contractor, with an estimated construction cost of just over $1 million.
A permit has been issued by the City of Chicago to begin construction on a three-story, three-unit masonry building at 4932 South Champlain Avenue in the Grand Boulevard Community Area. The permit came through for Park Royal Development on January 3, while permission to build next door at 4934 South Champlain is still pending in the Chicago Data Portal. Both permits show application dates of December 13, 2024.
Exterior construction for the Northwestern Medicine Bronzeville Outpatient Center at 4822 South Cottage Grove Avenue, in the Grand Boulevard Community Area continues to progress toward completion. Much of the cladding for the parking structure at the south end of the facility is up, as is most of the glass curtain well around the office and patient care areas at the north end. Significant interior work remains, as healthcare-specific preparations require considerably more time to implement than standard construction.
The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the initial phase of the Legends South development at 4520 S State Street in Grand Boulevard.
