Exterior construction for the Northwestern Medicine Bronzeville Outpatient Center at 4822 South Cottage Grove Avenue, in the Grand Boulevard Community Area continues to progress toward completion. Much of the cladding for the parking structure at the south end of the facility is up, as is most of the glass curtain well around the office and patient care areas at the north end. Significant interior work remains, as healthcare-specific preparations require considerably more time to implement than standard construction.
The Lamar Johnson Collaborative designed the facility, with general contractors Power Construction and Ujamaa Construction breaking ground in 2023. The five-story, 120.000-square-foot project will include an immediate care center, a cancer center with chemotherapy services, primary and specialty care services, a pharmacy, and more. Approximately 3,000 square feet of retail space will anchor the ground floor. Northwestern Medicine anticipates a fall 2025 opening.
Northwestern Medicine Bronzeville Outpatient Center is located near the CTA’s Route 4 bus, which stops at Cottage Grove and 48th. The east-west Route 47 bus, which stops to the north, offers a connection to the 47th Green Line elevated platform, approximately one mile west.

Holy moly this building is dominated by that parking structure. Kudos to Lamar for dressing it up nicer than most others.
Considering the contentious relationship between UChicago Hospital and NW Medicine, this is quite the aggressive move.
