City Council Approves Funding For Clarendon Community Center Renovations In Uptown

The Chicago City Council has approved a financial package for the renovation of the Clarendon Community Center in Uptown. Located at 4501 N Clarendon Avenue near the intersection with W Montrose Avenue and just west of Lincoln Park and S DuSable Lake Shore Drive, the existing structure will see a major rehab led by Chicago Park District with local design firms Booth Hansen and Site Design Group working on the new grounds.

City Council Approves TIF For Various City Parks

The Chicago City Council has approved the financing for multiple small-improvement projects of various Chicago Park District properties across the city. A majority of the funds will come from various Tax Increment Financing districts, which are often supported by fees from developers. Many city parks are dealing with aging facilities while handling the demand for open space over the last two years. Initial details have been revealed for the redevelopment of the public areas of Margaret T. Burroughs Beach at 3100 S DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Bronzeville. Most commonly known as 31st Street Beach, the updated plans come after a multi-year delay on the project which will tie in with the adjacent harbor. The redevelopment is being led by the Chicago Park District who is working with local firm Site Design Group on the new structures that will benefit from The Bronzeville Lakefront megadevelopment.

Initial Renderings Revealed For Skate Park Renovation In Logan Square

Initial details have been revealed for the redesign of the existing skatepark at 2430 W Logan Boulevard in Logan Square. Located right under the Kennedy Expressway, the existing skate park is one of five operated by the Chicago Park District and the only one that operates year-round due to its covered nature. The extensive remodel and redesign is being led by community group Logan Boulevard Skate Park Committee who tapped LA-based Spohn Ranch Skateparks for the conceptual design.
